mabfan: We should watch more SG-1
gnomi: But Shabbat starts sooner than we could watch a full episode.
mabfan: True...do you think we could find someone to come and watch it during Shabbat?
gnomi: You mean, you want a Stargate goy?
mabfan: Yes! Exactly! A Stargate Goy! Do we know one?


Conversation #2:

Background: mabfan and I are listening to the radio news as we go home from my parents' on Mother's Day. The news includes a report on the upcoming mayoral election in New Orleans.

gnomi: *starts to laugh*
mabfan: What?
gnomi: I'd have to vote for Nagin if I lived in New Orleans
mabfan: Why?
gnomi: I am not of the body!

Somehow, I have no problem believing you talk like this to each other. ;)

Maybe you could ask a neighbor to be your goy. Would they have to stay and watch? Or could they just come by and push the button every hour, like they're doing laundry? Can you not actually start the DVD and say "play all episodes" and then not touch it?
