A run in my STOCKINGS. No, seriously. I don't call them that in every day language -- either tights or pantyhose, but if I get a run, it's in my stockings. Maybe it's because my Mom is vintage 1922 and it's what she always called them in my hearing.

They're pantyhose when you're buying a pair or when you're compaining about how uncomfortable they are. But when they get a run in them, they're STOCKINGS.

That's just how it is.
