No, Really, We Talk Like This...Menagerie Edition

So, I mentioned a while ago that mabfan and I have a rather extensive stuffed animal collection and that we frequently give them odd and/or punning names. One of these animals is a Folkmanis snowy owl. We've had the owl for a while, but, for some reason, it never got named.

On Friday, before Shabbat, we were moving stuff around, and mabfan picked up the owl. We had the following conversation that culminated in our naming the owl:

mabfan: This owl...

gnomi: Has 22 minutes?

mabfan: [laughs]

gnomi: That's it!

mabfan: What?

gnomi: I finally figured out a name for the owl!

So, we now have Mercer the Owl.

You, and arib, occasionally need to work on adding context so that people know WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. I can't believe (or not believe) you talk like "this" if I don't know what "this" MEANS!

Based on my google-fo I'm assuming 22 minutes is a reference to: This_Hour_Has_22_Minutes and Mercer is Rick_Mercer

And yes, that deserves a giggle.

Sometimes the point of these posts is that we talk like this without context. It's the lack of context that provides the humor. That we can, without any context, make jokes like this and know what the other one is talking about.

I do sometimes add links for context, but this time I figured it would kill the whole thing.

This one's on the obscure side. "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" is a Canadian humor-news show (in the same vein as "The Daily Show"). One of its former cast members is a guy named Rick Mercer.
