Couple of things, unrelated to one another, that tickled my ear in the past few days.

actually, I think I say it more like OFFt'n. The e sound is almost not there, but the t is definitely there.

AWFF-n

Except when I'm tawking to my kids, hwen I make a point of pronouncing hidden letters to help them hear the orthography; in that case, I consciously pronounce the 't': AWFF-tən.

I nearly always say OFF-en, but occasionally I'll find myself saying OFF-ten, especially when it's a one-word answer or part of a short phrase rather than part something longer.

I was one of the daughters in our backstage theatre club at Disney a few years ago. Our Pirate King was HI-larious and that was one of my favorite scenes!

Actually, I'm loth to go to that restaurant because I loath/e the atmosphere. I don't know whether that distinction between loth (adj) and loath (v) exists only in my head; I picked it up from reading.

Loth is a variant of loath (http://mw1.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/loth).

Yes, I know what the dictionary says; I looked it up years ago. I'm just reporting on the distinction that exists in my lexicon.

I want more polls about it's and its because I can never remember which is which, no matter how often I'm corrected. I want to find out if I really do choose one randomly or if in fact I have an opinion and am blocked from realizing that I do.

I learned English primarily in:

The United States of America. I've lived in too many states for this poll you keep asking to be answered to be correctly answered. Perhaps if I had multiple personalities (and enough LJ logons) I could answer for all of them. *le sigh*

That's why I made 'em ticky boxes rather than radio buttons. You can choose multiple.
