gnomi: So I still have to figure out a menu for Shabbat.

mabfan: Remember, no herring.

gnomi: Or apples, or olives. Darn!

mabfan: What?

gnomi: There goes my famous apple-herring-olive salad!

Chop the apples, mix with herring. Garnish with black olives.

I think I had something similar at a Scandanavian restaurant once. I didn't like it much, because I don't like herring, but I could taste that, if I DID like herring, it would have been good.

Maybe it's just because I'm both very, very, busy and very, very, tired, but that conversation reminds me of this one from a con dinner run some years ago:

Passenger #1: Bear left up ahead.

Driver: Bear left, frog right.

Passenger #2: Vhat about Moose & Squirrel?

Whole Van: VE GET MOOSE & SQUIRREL!!!
