-- This time of year, Shabbat starts crazy-late. This leads to extreme laziness on the part of the
gnomi. What I mean is, in the winter, when Shabbat comes in at 3:53 PM, I do all my cooking Wednesday night and Thursday night. This time of year, when Shabbat comes in after 8:00 PM, I get lazy and sometimes (such as this week) don't even start my cooking until Friday afternoon. Today? There will be much pre-Shabbat flail.
-- Today is the 103rd anniversary of the General Slocum disaster.
mabfan has a post with more info.
-- This morning, I read the obituary of Guy de Rothschild, the great-great grandson of Mayer Rothschild and the grandson of the youngest of Mayer's children, James(AKA Jacob, I believe).
-- Overwhelmingly, people think I should get both types of penguin beads. Thanks to all who voted.
