-- Friday, got cooking done more than 1/2 hour before candle lighting. Go me and my mad time-management skills (except, well, for the whole "didn't even start cooking until 4:30 Friday afternoon)

-- Still floaty about story sale. :-)

-- Had lovely dinner with [personal profile] mabfan and friends S, J, J, and A at home of S&J.

-- Got home at reasonable time (relatively, given summer-Shabbat schedule) and got real sleep.

-- On Shabbat, had friends S&D join us at shul; they enjoyed (despite talkiness of row behind me...grumble grumble)

-- Had smallish crowd at lunch table: [personal profile] mabfan, friends R&R, S&D, and S

-- Good conversation, food went over well. Have to send recipes for greenbean salad (recipe from [profile] beckyfeld and chocolate cheese pie (adapted from recipe from [personal profile] scarlettina) to R.

-- R&R brought delicious gaspacho; S brought lovely fruit. Still eating leftovers of both, much to my great pleasure. Yum yum yum.

-- During post-lunch shmoozing with R&R and S (S&D had gone home for nap), discovered that R was friends at college with an old friend of mine with whom I've lost track (and with whom I already had odd connections... my Abba dated her mom right before Abba met [profile] lcmlc).

-- After guests left, took long nap, almost to Havdallah time. Was very necessary.

-- Sunday, went to Burlington for quick mall trip, then to b-i-l and s-i-l to deliver gifty to niece.

-- Sent e-mail for coordination of impromptu movie trip to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

-- After Burlington, went home, had lunch, coordinated (via e-mail and cell phone) with J and G (since S had, alas, to miss) for movie trip. Comedy of errors with timing, but in the end, discovered G couldn't go to time he wanted (sold out), so joined us.

-- Went to movie. Saw G and J briefly before and after film (due to crowding in theater, sat separately). Movie did not blow me away. Theater crazy-crowded.

-- Came home, did Stuff while [personal profile] mabfan went to help friend with task, then M came home.

-- Watched The Illusionist on DVD. Enjoyed. Very different from The Prestige, which we'd seen in the theater. Then went to sleep.

So, how was y'all's weekend?

Shabbat I had an excellent seudah shelishit, despite there being only one other person there. Sunday was a cooking marathon, as ME and I cooked and froze several weeks worth of lunches for me to take to work.

Mmmmm gaspacho. I've always wanted to try that. I loved The Illusionist, it was a wonderful movie and highly underrated in my opinion.

I re-met one of Beth's cousins from Isreal at dinner on Friday night, and then panicked when I found out she was coming to M's birthday party on Sunday because my kitchen is so not kosher, nor were the quiche or the cake... but it turned out all right. Beth's mom brought something from her kitchen in her dishes and we all ate on paper plates anyway.

The birthday party was a BLAST.

So, fun weekend!

About the same as most weekends. [livejournal.com profile] rwl had Friday off, so we had breakfast and lunch out. Saturday, no flea markets or yard sales - the season is past. Hung out at the house. Sunday was lunch out after talking with my home. More house hanging. Lots of quilting. I took walks when it wasn't so hot out.

isn't the plural of y'all (if you're not considering that to be plural to start with) "all y'all"?

Had a very nice weekend- lovelly shabbos lunch with fabulous company ;-), great (long) nap after that :-)

Y'all is plural... Y'all's is possessive.

Wow. Glad to hear S&D had a good time. I look forward to joining ya'll there once A gets into town. But seriously, no deconstruction of the movie, with the comparison of relative strengths and weaknesses as perceived by one who has read the book vs. one who has not? I think G found it much more disjointed than I did, while I actually thoroughly enjoyed some of the aspects I saw as interpretations of the book. (Mind, there were still large, painfully gaping holes, but also what to like).
-J(2) [soon to recieve a further letter designation so that I can be done with this silly numeric designation], not to be confused with J(&S+2)

I'm trying to not be too spoilery about the movie in my LJ until more folks here have had a chance to see it. However, I will say that I agree with G that it felt disjointed in parts.

It was enjoyable, and visually stunning, but not as good as movie 3 (which I consider the best of the movies so far).

I didn't get a shabbat nap, and I miraculously survived. I didn't think I could last without one. go figure! We had a great time at lunch. Rich has been craving those yummy green beans,a nd don't even get me started on that chocolate pie. I must have those recipes!
I haven't seen The Illusionist, but Christian Bale is very easy on the eyes. If I were to post GSP like you do, he would my pick.
BTW, do you have undisclosed Southern roots?
Oh, I think your friend Josh is getting married soon (the friendly archeologist who we met on shabbat). Please give him a hearty MT from us!

FYI, Bale is in "The Prestige," not "The Illusionist." They're both good movies, on different axes.
