gnomi: (exhausted_monkey)
[personal profile] gnomi
Much like two weeks ago, I am an absolutely exhausted monkey, for almost the exact same reasons.

Last night, [personal profile] mabfan and I co-hosted a sheva berachot celebration with our friends S&J for our friends A&A. Much food was made; much food was put out; much food was consumed. This I consider a success. Tex-Mex sheva berachot for the win. :-)

Mazal tov again to A&A. May you have years of happiness!

Notes to my future self:

-- Individual strawberry shortcakes are a great idea...on paper. In practice? Too fiddly for a large group. Still, worth the fiddly bits, in general. So, maybe not for 30+ next time.
-- I need to request some of S's recipes. Oh, yes, I do.
-- Santa Fe bean salad is excellent the second day, since the flavors have a chance to blend.

Sorry to hear that the individual strawberry shortcakes turned out to be too fiddly for the large group, but I'll bet that they tasted fabulous.

*hugs*

I hope you don't want the chili recipe. I don't have one.

Nope; I like my chili recipe just fine. But thanks.

Nothing at all. Just not brainful enough to type out LJ handles today. had enough trouble with mabfan, and I type that one all the time. Also? shift key overrated. just saying.

Yum! That's Richie's dream come true. he can eat tex-Mex 24/7 if he could. if you have leftovers and don't know what to do with them, I know someone who can help out. He's a giver :)

Heh.

The plan is to make gaspacho and a little more of the Santa Fe salad and declare it Shabbat food.

delish! Any chance you'd like to share the Santa Fe recipe with me? Any recipes we've gotten from you have been so yummy. Rich still obsesses over those green beans :)

I can do that. I'll type it up before Shabbat, if I have a chance, and otherwise will share it after Shabbat.

I'm so glad Rich likes the green beans. They're a favorite of mine, as well.

Santa Fe Bean Salad
(recipe from Chava Hope via Heather Greene)

Salsa
Lots of fresh cilantro, chopped
Drained frozen corn
Chopped red and green pepper
Chopped red onion

Combine all together. Serve with sour cream and tortilla chips.

is it improper blog etiquette to mention people's real names? I notice that many people use initials when referring to their friends/family

There seems to be a split on this, actually. I tend to use people's LJ handles if they have them and otherwise use intials, mostly because I have a number of friends who would rather not be findable through a random Google search (though according to my LJ's settings it shouldn't be findable through Google, I don't depend on that). Some people use full names no matter what. It seems to be a stylistic thing.
