There's an article in this morning's Boston Globe regarding the increased turkey population in Massachusetts, and, specifically, the increased incidents of turkey violence and aggression in Brookline.

Lest you think this is exaggerated, this past April, I saw a turkey wandering down the middle of the street we live on (a side street off a major-ish street).

There is a short story about militant turkeys in there somewhere trying to take over the world.

We have a flock of about a dozen who wander around our neighborhood.

We're getting more of them in CT, too. I regularly see them while driving on the Merritt, and at my mom's place in Bloomfield. Never got attacked by one, though.

The Kendall tom turkey was walking down the sidewalk at rush hour last night pretty far away from where it usually hangs out. It was almost to the train tracks.

I've never seen him anywhere but that walkway by the Volpe Center.

He's been roaming to the surrounding buildings a bit this summer, but I'd never seen him that far away from the transportation building either.

When my family got home yesterday evening, there was a group of 6-7 turkeys wandering around in my driveway. They weren't even afraid of the car: they just stared us down and then sauntered lazily away.

Wild turkeys are abundant here in PA and they are smart, wiley and MEAN. Nothing like the domesticated ones at all. These are birds with attitude. I had one follow me and my dog home from a walk, squawking the whole way - I think she must've had a nest of babies somewhere close by the lane we were on.

Why are there no turkeys in Somerville? (Okay, so that sounds like a setup for a joke.)

aah! You beat me to it. I was going to post the same thing.
I did have to drive through a pack of wild turkeys today at work. I counted 13.
