(Scene: [personal profile] gnomi has just gotten a sudden invitation in e-mail for an around-the-corner visit; [personal profile] mabfan is napping on the bed.)

What the conversation should have been:

[personal profile] gnomi: Wake up, [personal profile] mabfan! We're going to [profile] elul_3 and [profile] joules314's!

[personal profile] mabfan: [Half asleep] Like hell I am. What for?

[personal profile] gnomi: For the carrot cake and conversation!

[[personal profile] mabfan gets up and marches off right behind [personal profile] gnomi]

While I can see your Michael as Ben Franklin, I cannot in good conscience picture you as Stephen Hopkins.

[My Michael is, and ever was, and ever shall be... John Adams.]

Maybe I have to go around demanding that people bring me rum. :-)

After 8 PM, I don't think it qualifies as a "nap."

He was dressed and still wearing his glasses. I count that as "nap" or "fell asleep while reading."

my brother and I (strange creatures that we are) quote that all the time. Nice to know there are other "special" people in the world with us :-)

Wake up Franklin we're going to New Brusnswick!

We quote that movie a lot. I think it's tied to us watching it every July 4th.

You let him sleep? :D

I woke him. Either way I was going to have to wake him -- either to tell him I was going out, or to ask him if he wanted to come with. After I said "going out" and "carrot cake," he decided to come with.

Where we went is, door-to-door, a five minute walk.

Just sayin'. :D

And this was yummy home-made carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.

Definitely worth walking out into single-digit temperatures for. :-)

Mm. I should maybe ponder making some. I haven't ever, but I could probably figure it out.

my mom has an awesome recipe. She never makes it with frosting. She says that it doesn't need it because it's moist and yummy as is. True, but everything is oh so much better and scrumptious with cream cheese frosting.

Except, perhaps, fleishigs. :-)

or...you could ask the baker of the carrot cake for the recipe (http://emr.cs.iit.edu/~reingold/ruths-kitchen/recipes/desserts/carrot.html) she used.

(Some modifications, plus I didn't make the whole thing in a food precesoor If you want details, ask and ye shall receive. I recommend email.)

I could, in fact. :-)

(I found a chocolate-carrot cake recipe and baked it last night, but we haven't tried it yet because I have to frost it and I had to wait for it to be cooled first, so I figured I'd frost it this morning.)
