Was very productive yesterday. Apartment now at point that I can do the rest of the stuff over the course of the week, to wit:

-- Give stovetop one more scrubbing
-- Scrub out oven
-- Kasher stovetop
-- Kasher oven
-- Kasher sink
-- Wash and cover counters
-- Cover stovetop
-- Put away last of chametz (into pantry)
-- Change tablecloths (both kitchen and dining room)
-- Wash kitchen floor
-- Sweep/vacuum dining room floor
-- Clean and kasher microwave
-- Towel and tablecloth laundry

Most of this will have to wait for Wednesday/Thursday, as we are still living in Chametzville this week.

Tuesday and Thursday evening would be excellent times for you to do all these tasks. :-)

No blowtorch -- it's a relatively new oven, and the newer ovens do not react well to being blowtorched. So I'll turn the oven up to its highest setting and leave it there for an hour or so to burn off everything that might be remaining after I have scrubbed it down.

We do perform a ritual burning of the chametz on Friday morning; if you have a blowtorch and want to participate, let us know! :-)

it seems like so much when you break it down into smaller parts. Looks like I was more efficient yesterday than I thought!

I itemize it so that I can remember the bits. None of them (should) take very long, but I can't do most of them until later in the week, since we're still eating at home over the next couple of days.

I can do the laundry early, though, so maybe I'll do that on Tuesday.

So I can understand where putting an oven on clean cycle for an hour could be considered equivilent to boiling for an hour.. but how does one do the microwave?

Those who hold you *can* kasher a microwave (there are those who hold that it is not possible) say to do it as follows:

1. Clean out microwave thoroughly.
2. Leave microwave unused for 24 hours.
3. Microwave a cup of water for 10 minutes to steam the whole thing thoroughly.

Then you have a kashered microwave.

That works great for cleaning it in general, especially if you squeeze half a lemon in the water.

This is my first year returning to my Jewish roots so I am looking forward to the cleaning. Today is my last day of work (end of tax season) and then I can begin. I don't know what I will do on years Passover comes during tax season but this year I lucked out.

My task has been complicated by my new adopted puppy who is learning not to have separation anxiety. He totally trashed the living room the other day when I was out longer than I thought. Then yesterday he got stuck in my bedroom and totally trashed that! He's such a little cutey tho and geting etter all the time!:>)

That is quite the list! Makes me very curious what else was on the list, what tasks you already tackled. It is difficult to do much of it in advance, isn't it?

It is difficult to do much of it in advance if one intends to live in one's home during the week previous.

What we did already included a major reorganization of the kitchen and a massive recycling effort of newspapers (and a cutting-down of cardboard boxes, which our building cannot recycle, alas).

And who is this, by the way?
