I am interested in discussing this with you further. While I believe it should be a federal right, I don't agree with it religiously. Personally, I feel marriage is between a man and a woman as far as the religious aspects of the wedding. Let's chat more . . .

In subjects such as this, since I firmly believe in the separation of Church and State, I don't think *anyone*'s religious beliefs should affect federal or state law.

My religion's (or anyone's religion's) views on the topic are a different issue and have to be discussed separate from the issue of equal protection for all.

(That's my general view, in fact, on all issues that have potential for conflicts between religious and secular law.)

I 100% agree with you in every aspect. That was sort of what I was getting at in my response. Well said! :-)

Wow! It's about bleeping time. I can't believe Massachusetts got to this point before they did.

And MA didn't put it to a statewide vote, as -- it seems -- is inevitable in CA. I'll be interested to see how it all plays out.

Especially since CA is pretty liberal, but there are lot of conservatives outside the three big cities (LA, SD, and SF).

California elected Reagan, Wilson and Ahnuld, so there is no way to predict.

1. Apparently there won't be an anti-same sex marriage vote in your state this fall. So good news on both coasts.

2. That said, as there will be a referendum in CA, I think any celebrations are premature. Such votes have not gone well so far.

3. The timing couldn't be better for the GOP. Once again, they can make an issue out of same sex marriage, accusing the Democrats of hating marriage and so on, and divert attention from the economy and the war and so on.
