Right before Readercon, I started knitting a pair of socks out of Regia's Design Line (colorway: Landscape Storm). I finished the first sock on Monday night while knitting in the company of [profile] madknits, and I immediately cast on the second sock. The second ball started in a different place in the color scheme than the first, but I made the decision at the time to start the sock where the ball started, rather than finding the exact color that I started with before so that I could have an exact matching pair.

Yesterday, I changed my mind, tore out what I'd already done, and started again at the same point as where the first sock started.

Why am I not surprised?

I ended up ripping out everything I did on teh shawl last night and starting over again.

with a different ball of yarn.

So far, so good.

Same yarn, different ball, yes? Because that's a magnificent yarn.

I'm glad it's going well so far.

First off, I have to say - I bow to your knitting genius! Anyone who can knit such an intricate design is a pro in my book.

One of the reasons I don't knit or crochet is because I spent more time ripping out than actually working on the project when I was trying to learn. Perfectionist? Me? No, never... LOL

Thanks! The yarn is self-striping, which helps a lot. And I like socks, because they're relatively straightforward once you learn the tricky bit of the heel.

Sometimes a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do. Matching socks are happy socks.

*Exactly*! I'm glad this makes sense to you.
