Today [personal profile] mabfan and I named our daughters:

Elisheva Meira (formerly Thing One) (AKA Muffin) -- Named for Michael's great grandmother Elizabeth and my great grandfather Meir

Yael Batya (formerly Thing Two) (AKA Squeaker) --Named for Michael's father Joel and our friend David's father (who died the Saturday night before my surgery) and for my grandmother Betty

(By the way, I haven't read e-mail since Saturday night a week ago, before the babies came. If you sent me e-mail, I cannot at this time guarantee when you will receive a reply.)

Woo hoo! Other than that, I have nothing useful or important to say. Shavuah tov!

I thought Thing One and Thing Two had a certain ring to them, but if you're insisting on proper names, those are the next best thing :-)

Love them. Love you.

Take your time; the world will wait for you, more or less in the same condition as you left it (though, admittedly, we totally missed Katrina when Ben was born).

I may still use Muffin and Squeaker from time to time. :-)

Just remember to leave off Muffin and Squeaker in front of their peers by second grade or so. I once embarrassed Charlotte terribly by addressing her as "Muffinbaby" (her unofficial second middle name, after the official one, Louisa) in front of her second-grade classmates.

I used to call my first-born "little troll" because of the expression he had when he was born. After he heard the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff he wouldn't let me call him "troll" any more.

Mazal tov! Beautiful names.

How are they doing? How are you doing? I'm being reminded of how difficult caring for one newborn is, I can only imagine how much fun and how much work it is looking after two at once!

Congratulations, Nomilady! Leora & I both agree that these are beautiful names.

My grandmother was also a Betty. That's why I'm named Rivka. ;-) And Yael was the name I used in my college Hebrew class.

Mazel tov! Lovely names. How do you pronounce Elisheva? I'm thinking El-LEE-she-va in my head but don't know if that's correct.

Date: 2009-07-31 10:54 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mabfan.livejournal.com
I think it's more like EL-lee-SHE-va, with the accents on the first and third syllable.

Thanks! That was actually my first thought so I should have stuck with it. :)
