How is that a crash blossom? Do you read it as referring to a California educator shaped like a Greek uprising?

Actually, I first parsed it as the Greek uprising having formed the California educator during a storm of pepper spray. I knew that made no sense, so I tried it the way you suggest. And then I figured out what it actually meant.

Funny. The problem I had up front was that I got what it was saying, only my brain kept wanted to re-form it as "Greek Upbringing".

I *think* it means that the California educator at the center of the pepper-spraying incident at UC Davis had her views shaped by the events of the Greek uprising. But that's just a guess.
