Sometimes my mind gets caught up analyzing lyrics and the like. For instance, a couple of days ago I started to wonder how many songs on my iPod have "together" in the lyrics ("We Go Together," from the "Grease" soundtrack; "And we will all go down together" from Billy Joel's "Goodnight Saigon," etc.). And this morning, what burbled to the top was the question of how many iterations of the lyrics "Here I am..." I could think of.

Off the top of my head I came up with the following after "Here I am":

-- "Rock you like a hurricane"

-- "The one that you love"

-- "On the road again"

(then part of me thought this should be the narf question in some upcoming poll: "'Here I am': 'rock you like a hurricane,' 'the one that you love,' 'on the road again,' 'narf.'")

Any others I'm not thinking of? I'm sure there are; feel free to add 'em in comments.

"...playing with those memories again..."

I am, indeed, a child of the '80s (except, you know, when I'm quoting Yes, in which case I'm a child of the '70s, or the Beatles, in which case I'm a child of the '60s—well, you get the idea...).

Here I am baby, come and take me... UB40
The only other one I can think of is one of my favorites from church: "Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord? I have heard you calling in the night..."

I've been known to belt it out while driving. I'm a big fan of 80s music.

My Air Supply suggestion was made already, and I can't believe I didn't think of Stealers Wheel either, and I had to cheat (with Google) to remember that Bob Seger's "Turn the Page" has it in the refrain.

I used to be much better at this. I'm gonna go sulk now.

the only thing i can thing of is "here i am again on my own...[la la la]... the only road i've ever known," which is in some 80s hard rock song by, i suspect, a hair band.

ah, thanks to the wonder of google, i believe it is by white snake.

I was going to add that one myself.

Here I am again on my own
going down the only road I've ever known
like a drifter I was born to walk alone...

I think it was Whitesnake (nee Deep Purple, IIRC.)
