-- I took the quiz at glassbooth.org, and I'm not sure I agree with their assessment of who I should vote for. It's an oddly limited number of questions they ask, which makes assessing my politics (which lean fiscally conservative but socially liberal) really hard.

-- I keep planning posts in my head, but for one reason or another they don't seem to make it to the screen.

-- I owe at least one person a language poll; I'll try to get it done by the end of the weekend, if not before.

-- Speaking of the screen, [personal profile] mabfan and I finally got our anniversary gift of the full series of Stargate: SG-1 on DVD. We've been checking each DVD to make sure it plays well. This tends to mean running through the eps on fast-forward, but I've been stopping to rewatch random episodes here and there. I'm up to season 4, so last night I rewatched "Small Victories," "Crossroads," "Divide and Conquer," "Chain Reaction," and "2010" ([personal profile] mabfan was out at Town Meeting, and I was crawling around on the living room floor).

-- Why was I crawling around on the floor last night? Well... it has to do with those things one learns from one's parents that one does even when one feels like a goofball doing so. I am making [profile] lcmlc a skirt, and when she first taught me to sew (when I was about 14 or so), she taught me the value of ironing the paper pattern pieces before cutting. She also taught me the value of Do-Sew or the functional equivalent, and since my best cutting surface is our living room floor, I was crawling around tracing out the pattern pieces in the proper size for [profile] lcmlc and then cutting out the resulting pieces. Tonight, I'll preshrink the fabric and (with luck) cut it out.

Cool! Enjoy. I've heard a lot of complaints about the packaging for the complete series, so I bought the box set of 1-9 and bought 10 separately. So they're all thinpack, which is user friendly, and I paid about the same.

See you next week?

It *is* odd packaging, which is why we're testing the discs (there were reports of people receiving out-of-the-box damaged discs (I mean, discs that were damaged from the get-go)). We took all the discs out of their fancy-shmancy packaging and put them into slim cases, because that'll provide better protection.

And, yes. We'll see you next week. Yay!!!

I just went to the glassbooth site. What makes it difficult is it seems to be going mainly from soundbites, what they've said about this that or the other issue, rather than what legislation they've initiated, voted on, or passed. So all the Democrats are within a few points of each other. I have a feeling the site is more to try and drum up support and buzz for the little candidates no one's heard of, and sap the main contenders.

Huh. That is an interesting quiz, and I agree that it's flawed. I think part of it is that some of the questions seem inherently messed up in that there's so little grey area allowed. If it's asking do you support this, that, or the other thing, and you find it flawed but necessary, how do you express that? Do you say "strongly support" because it's necessary, "support" because it could be improved, or "oppose" because you think it's flawed? Their ratings of the candidates based on subtle nuances could be completely opposed to your nuances. It's a hard balance to strike, and I think they really fail.

I knew as I started taking that Glassbooth test that it was going to tell me that I was closest to Dennis Kucinich. And lo, I was right. But, alas, he is an unelectable leprechaun, and I'm not actually convinced he'd make a good president.
