(gotten from [personal profile] saxikath, whose post I didn't respond to 'cause I honestly have no memory of when we met. It was [personal profile] mabfan-related, so sometime 1991-1993 timeframe.)

"Add a comment to this journal telling me what you remember about first meeting me (online most certainly counts; if you have a choice between online and in person, I'll request the most amusing :-) I'll respond to each comment with my memories of you.

And, of course, if you like it, try it in your own journal."

Okay, we have three firsts. Two online -- one in person.

True - we do. Hadn't thought of it that way, but you're right.

I don't think the first, first counts because it didn't take. Emailed feedback, you sent a polite response and that's that.

See, I think of the first first as being your response to my "help! Did I hallucinate this scene, or did it really show up on screen?" e-mail. And you assured me that I hadn't hallucinated it at all. Which was quite helpful, I tell you.

The second first, I responded to I don't remember which story, but I pointed out that you were having a continuity problem. Kind of your continuity slip was showing. And here we are.

And you were totally right (if I remember correctly, a character left home wearing one shirt and showed up in the next scene wearing something completely different). And the rest is history. :-)

The third first, or the first in person meeting. New York. The lobby, curiously on the eighth floor, of a hotel. At the moment I'd decided I should call you, I spotted someone looking as confused and bewildered as I was and there we were. It was cool. And we had a blast.

Confused and bewildered is right. Weird hotel it was, with odd elevators. And I'd just told MAB that I was going to call you if I didn't spot you when, in fact, we spotted each other. Timing is everything, I guess.

I honestly don't know that any of them were amusing, per se, as in a giggle fest for someone else.

You and I (and [personal profile] mabfan) were amused, at least with the in-person one, and that's all that counts, right?

And you were totally right . . .

Well, you don't think I'd have actually put myself out there if I wasn't damned sure I was right, do you?

Good point. But when I first got your e-mail on the story, my reaction was, "could I have been that scatter-brained?" Turned out the answer was, in fact, "yes."

Feh!

Feh, I say. It logged me in and then refused to show me as me. Anyway, the above blather is from me. :-)

But you probably knew that.
