My mind, and the places it goes

As I was working on my current travel-project-sock this evening on my commute home, I figured out what I want in my knitting tool kit: a binary row counter.

Actually, I lie. I want a row counter for which you can tell it in which base you want it to count. Working on an 8-row repeat? No problem. Twenty-three rows? Again, no problem.

If such a thing existed, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

So, today is Pi Day (3.14). But this leads me to wonder:

-- Why don't we celebrate Fibonacci Day on 11/23? I'm sure Thespis would be willing to share.

-- How about e Day on 2/7?

-- We could pick a day (how about in the spring?) to celebrate √2 (on which mabfan and I could go out and visit lcmlc and Abba by driving through Cambridge, Arlington, and Lexington).
